Dookie Student Association
Dookie Student Association (DSA) and clubs
The Dookie Student Association (DSA) is an umbrella organisation run by elected student representatives who make up the Committee of Management. The DSA is funded by the Services and Amenities Fee (SAF), paid by all University of Melbourne students. The DSA provides a wide range of student interest, sport and recreation clubs which all students at Dookie can participate in. The DSA ensures that every opportunity is made to make student life at Dookie as enjoyable as possible. The DSA encourages students to get involved in student development and leadership activities through election to committee positions within clubs and the DSA itself and through participation in social and sporting events. The DSA also provides a range of support services (academic, financial and personal).
The DSA has its own offices and is located within the Gavin Gibson Building where there is a student lounge area with TV, video, fridge, microwave, lockers, free tea and coffee, notice boards and vending machines. The DSA's office is the administrative centre of the Association and also provides students with use of a photocopier, fax machine, guillotine, heat binding machine, laminator and a phone.
The DSA organises a whole range of social activities each semester. Some of these are regular events, such as film nights, and others are major events such as Orientation Week for first year students, the annual Commencement Ball and End of Year Ball.
Students enrolled at Dookie Campus can also use the student union facilities of all the other campuses of the University of Melbourne, including those at Parkville Campus and the Mt Buller Alpine Lodge. For more information see Melbourne University Sports.
At Dookie clubs can change from year to year and reflect the interests of current students. If a group of students wants to create a new club they can do this through the DSA. Here are some of the current clubs at Dookie.
Dookie United Football and Netball Club
Students are encouraged to support the local Dookie United Football & Netballl Club. The club cater's for all standards with a range of grades and age groups. The club competes in the Picola & District Football Netball league and play throughout the Goulburn Valley and southern NSW. Training is twice weekly during the winter season. This is a very social club with regular BBQ's and an annual ball. The DSA financially assists players membership fees. Dookie United Netball club has had a brilliant season in 2004 winning three of the four premierships including the A-Grade crown. Further Informattion is available from the Dookie United Football & Netball Club Website.
Gun Club
The club meets at the Dookie Campus Rifle Range and specialises in rifle and clay pigeon shoots and also competes across the region. The club maintains an armoury for the locked storage of all guns and ammunition.
Gym Club
The Dookie gym is well equipped and housed in its own airy, heritage-listed building. The Gym Club also organises aerobic classes.

In 2007 membership for DSA members is $30.00 a year which provides access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Horse Agistment and the Horse Club
Agistment for horses is available on campus. Horses have individual yards, access to an undercover area and tack rooms. The horse club organises rides and competitions and maintains a paddock with eventing equipment.

Students are able to ride on campus and get involved in stock work. Students interested in agisting one or more horses at Dookie should contact the DSA for more information about costs, making a booking, and advice on when to apply. Phone (03) 5833 9262.
Working Dog Club and Kennel Facilities
Students are able to keep their dog on campus if kennelled with the Working Dog Club or with the permission of the Residential Manager. The Working Dog Club participates in competitions around the state and hosts events at Dookie Campus. Club dogs are also permitted to work stock on Broadacre paddocks with the permission of the Broadacre Manager.
To use the kennels, dogs must be from a working dog breed and the student must actively maintain the dog's training, including participation in stock work. However the club offers day time kennel facilities for other dog breeds. There are a limited number of kennels and bookings in advance are essential. Please contact the DSA for more information about kennelling costs and booking arrangements, phone (03) 5833 9262.
